The client requested a series of jump ropes that comes in two different variations, an intro and pro level with one being easier to manufacture and one with more sophisticated build and materials. Mold manufacturing methods were heavily considered in the designing of these jump ropes.
I took inspiration from modern fountain pens as the main form for the design, which allowed for a fresh take and look on an otherwise conventional sports aesthetic.
With the manufacturing of the product a main factor to consider in the design, it became clear that the complications of the designs will be the defining element when it came to differientiating the pro and intro level of the two jump ropes. While the intro level jump rope has more restrictions, it brought about creative methods to achieve the same level of design aesthetics.
Both jump ropes provides the option for switching between light and heavy weighted ropes. The Mechanisms are basically the same with slight variations the compensates for the design of each jump rope.
